Karos versions and regional releases
Search for this game and you meet a pile of names: Karos Online, Rosh Online, Son Destan, Karos Returns, Karos Latino, Karos RU. They are regional releases of the same Korean-origin MMORPG, run by different publishers in different markets. This page sorts out which name belongs where, so that the question people actually type — which Karos server should I pick — has a concrete answer.
One caveat first. The dates below are deliberately vague. Most of this game's publishing history survives in forum archives and player memory rather than in documents we can cite, so we do not print exact launch or shutdown dates. The table records which region and which publisher name a title is associated with, and nothing we cannot stand behind.
Regional release names
| Name | Region | How it is remembered |
|---|---|---|
| Rosh Online: Son Destan | Turkey | The Turkish-language release. Players from that era still search for "son destan" rather than for the international title. |
| Karos Online | International | The most widely used brand name; the European years are remembered alongside GameXP. |
| Karos Returns | International | A title used when the game was brought back after a pause. |
| Karos Latino | Latin America | The Spanish-speaking release, associated with the publisher name Axeso5. |
| Karos RU | Russia | The Russian-language release, known locally as «Карос Онлайн». |
| Karos Thailand | Southeast Asia | One of the regional releases, and the one least documented in English sources. |
| NHN, Galaxy Gate | Origin and licensing | Company names that appear when the game's origin and publishing rights are discussed. |
| Karos Legacy | Community | The community line that wrote server software from scratch; the technical base of this project. |
| Karos Remastered | Community | Our sister brand: same client, rewritten server side, texts carried into eight languages. |
Why the regional versions never felt identical
They shared a client, not a configuration. Publishers tuned experience rates, event calendars and the order in which content unlocked to suit their own market. Translation was the second divide: some regions shipped careful text, others shipped half of it, and a mistranslated item name could follow a community around for years as a running joke. The third difference was simple population. The same class balance plays very differently when a castle siege draws four hundred people instead of forty.
Which Karos server should I choose?
Read the settings, not the name. Four things decide how a server will feel: experience and drop rates, whether gear enhancement has real protection rules, how often the Karos PvP calendar fires, and whether the interface exists in your language. There is a fifth and it usually matters most — the wipe policy. Nobody plays a character comfortably while wondering whether it will be deleted. If a server does not state these five things in writing, treat the silence as the answer.
Can an old account or character be restored?
No, and it is worth being blunt about it. Account data from a closed service stayed with that publisher, and no independent server can bring your old character back. What is possible today is returning to the same world with the same client and a new character. You get the evenings back, not the inventory.
Where this project sits
This site is the closed beta page of an independent Karos Online private server. It has no connection to the official publisher and does not claim to continue any official release. Our own settings are on the record: there is no wipe, so the character, levels and gear you earn in the closed beta remain yours after launch. The account you create for the beta stays valid at launch — no second registration, no transfer form. Interface and texts run in eight languages, playing is free, and nothing is sold during this phase. Login opens at 13 November 2026 at 20:00 (UTC+3).
If the game itself is new to you, What is Karos Online covers the world, the Fletta system and the PvP; the five archetypes are broken down on Classes. For the Turkish publishing era see History in Turkey, and to download Karos and sign up start at How to Play. The rebuild notes themselves live on our sister site Karos Remastered.
Trademark note: Karos, Rosh Online, Son Destan and the other marks named on this page belong to their respective owners and are used here only to tell the releases apart. This is an independent private server project.
So which Karos versions can you actually play today?
Only the ones somebody is currently running. A name in the table above tells you where a release came from, not whether a login screen answers tonight. That is the practical reason this page ends where it does: the comparison is history, and the closed beta described on How to Play is the part you can download and log into. If you came here from a search for a Karos Online private server, that page is the short path.
