Karos Online Closed Beta

Rules and privacy

This page is written to be short and honest: what you agree to when you join the closed beta, and what we do with your data, without pages of legal language.

Rules

  • No cheating or third-party software. Modifying the client, automation (botting), macros and similar tools are rule violations.
  • No bug abuse. If you find an exploit or a bug, report it; continuing to use it is a violation. Reporters are thanked, not punished.
  • No harassment, hate speech, spam or unsolicited advertising. This applies equally in game and on Discord.
  • No impersonating staff and no phishing. Presenting yourself as a GM, admin or moderator to extract information from players leads to a permanent closure.
  • The closed beta is a test. Expect maintenance and the odd outage, and expect to meet bugs. Reporting them is the point of this phase.
  • No wipe. The character, levels and items you earn during the beta are permanent.

Account security

Never share your password — not with a friend, not with someone offering help, and certainly not with an account claiming to be staff. The team will never ask for your password, your application key or a verification code. Because there is no login form on this site, your password is only ever typed into the game client. If something looks wrong, write to [email protected].

Enforcement tiers and appeals

Enforcement is graded rather than instant: a warning and a temporary restriction first, then a timed closure, and a permanent closure only for repeated or serious violations. Automatic detections do not punish on their own — they enter a review queue and are looked at by a human, so false positives can be reversed. If you believe a decision was wrong, write to [email protected] and ask for a review.

What data we collect

  • Username — to create the account.
  • E-mail — to send your application status and the launch announcement.
  • Language choice — to show the site and announcements in the right language.
  • IP address — to prevent abuse and bursts of applications from a single source.
  • Discord identity and name — only if you completed the confirmation step, so the reward reaches the right account.

Passwords, retention and deletion

Passwords are never written anywhere in plain text, never appear in logs and cannot be read by anyone. They are stored in the game's own secure hashed format and transferred to the game server in that form at launch, so you do not lose your password. We do not sell data, do not share it for advertising and do not use third-party trackers. Data is kept for the closed beta and the transfer period; to have your application deleted, write to [email protected]. Practical questions are answered on FAQ and the steps on How to Play. The same principles apply to our sister site Karos Remastered.
